For questions about an order: letimbreetlalettre@gmail.com; +33 6 73 70 82 48.
These terms cover purchases of stamps, letters, postcards and documents made online by consumers in our shop.
Article 2 — Items offered for sale
Product pages present the items for sale, their prices, photographs and available information about their characteristics. You can contact us before ordering if you need further information about an item.
Article 3 — Prices
Prices are displayed in the currency selected in the shop and specified before payment. For French VAT: VAT is not applicable under Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code. This French exemption does not exempt purchases from foreign taxes that may apply. Delivery charges and any taxes collected at checkout are displayed before confirmation so you can check the total.
Destinations and possible import charges
Delivery to Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) is temporarily suspended. Delivery to Northern Ireland is not offered. The Republic of Ireland remains an available destination. Available destinations, delivery methods and charges are shown during checkout.
For deliveries outside the European Union, any import duties, taxes and clearance fees not collected at checkout may be payable by the recipient before delivery.
Article 4 — Placing an order
Select your items and check your cart. Before final confirmation you can correct your selection and contact details. Choose the available delivery and payment methods, then check the order summary, these terms and the total. Checkout is available in French and English.
Final confirmation places an order with an obligation to pay. The contract is concluded when the shop records your order following that confirmation. An order summary is sent to the email address you provided. With deferred payment, you must still pay according to the instructions received; recording the order does not mean that payment has been received.
The terms applicable to your purchase are attached to the order confirmation as a PDF. Keep that email and its attachments. Your orders can also be viewed in your customer account.
For electronic contracts worth at least €120, the seller retains the written contract for the statutory ten-year period from delivery, as well as throughout the period between conclusion and delivery. You may request access at letimbreetlalettre@gmail.com, providing information that allows your order to be identified.
Article 5 — Paying for your order
Available payment methods are displayed during checkout and may depend on your country and device.
For a bank transfer, send the total amount using the instructions provided after the order is confirmed, including your order number as the payment reference. Confirming the order does not make the transfer for you. Dispatch takes place after the funds are received.
For payment by cheque, make it payable to Le Timbre et la Lettre and send it to 12 Rue Charles Hibert, 95290 L'Isle-Adam, France, together with your order number. Dispatch takes place after the cheque is received and cleared.
Article 6 — Dispatch and delivery
Your order is dispatched within 14 days after payment. Postal transit time is additional to this dispatch period.
Free delivery applies only to the service whose threshold has been reached. Standard letters do not include tracking. The services and charges available for your address are displayed before you confirm your order.
The maximum delivery period, including preparation and postal transit, is 30 calendar days for France, 45 calendar days for other European destinations and 60 calendar days for other available destinations, from receipt of payment. These periods apply to destinations available at checkout. For deferred payment by bank transfer or cheque, the period starts when cleared funds are received. These periods do not limit your statutory rights in the event of delay.
Delays or loss
If your order is taking longer than expected, contact letimbreetlalettre@gmail.com with your order number. We will review the situation with the carrier. Using a postal service does not remove your rights against the seller.
Where no delivery date or period has been stated or agreed, French law requires delivery without undue delay and no later than thirty days after the contract is concluded. This is the statutory default rule, separate from the dispatch period stated above.
If the delivery obligation is not met, you may, subject to the statutory conditions, suspend payment and ask us in writing to deliver within a reasonable additional period. If delivery still does not take place, you may notify us in writing that you are terminating the contract. Immediate termination is possible if we refuse to deliver, it is clear that we will not deliver, or the agreed date was an essential condition of the contract. Payments received must then be refunded within fourteen days of termination.
For carriers offered by us, the risk of loss or damage remains with us until you, or a third party designated by you other than the carrier, take physical possession of the goods.
Article 7 — Withdrawal, returns and refunds
If you change your mind
When buying online as a consumer, you have 14 days to notify us that you wish to withdraw from the contract, without giving a reason. The period starts on the day after you, or a third party you have designated other than the carrier, receive the goods. If goods from a single order are delivered separately, it starts after receipt of the last item. If the last day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, public holiday or non-working day, the deadline is extended to the next working day.
Send us a clear statement before the deadline by email to letimbreetlalettre@gmail.com or by post to the address below. You may use the form at the bottom of this page, but you do not have to. You do not need prior approval to exercise this right.
You can also request a return or cancellation from the relevant order in your customer account: View my orders — returns and cancellations. Your request is sent to the seller for processing: submitting it does not itself automatically cancel or refund the order in the shop. This does not make your statutory right of withdrawal subject to approval. You can still notify us by email or post.
Returning the items
Send the goods back without undue delay and no later than 14 days after notifying us of your decision to withdraw, to this address:
Le Timbre et la Lettre
Carbonne Julien
12 Rue Charles Hibert
95290 L'Isle-Adam
France
You are responsible for the direct cost of returning goods when exercising your right of withdrawal. This rule applies when you change your mind; it does not apply to costs necessary to implement the statutory guarantee of conformity.
Please handle the items carefully, protect them for shipping and retain proof of dispatch. You may examine the goods. You are only liable for a reduction in their value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning, under the applicable legal conditions.
Your refund after withdrawal
If you withdraw from the contract, we refund the payments received, including the delivery costs paid for our least expensive standard delivery option. If you expressly chose a more expensive delivery method, the additional cost is not refunded.
We refund you without undue delay, no later than 14 days after receiving your decision to withdraw. We may withhold the refund until we receive the goods or evidence that you have sent them back, whichever happens first.
We use the same payment method as for your purchase, unless you expressly agree to a different method that does not result in any fees for you.
Article 8 — Statutory guarantees
To exercise your statutory guarantees, contact the seller: Julien Carbonne, entrepreneur individuel, Le Timbre et la Lettre, 12 Rue Charles Hibert, 95290 L'Isle-Adam, France; letimbreetlalettre@gmail.com; +33 6 73 70 82 48.
Statutory guarantees — consumer information
Consumers have two years from delivery to invoke the French statutory guarantee of conformity if a lack of conformity appears. During this period, consumers need only establish the existence of the defect, not when it first arose. For second-hand goods, the presumption that the defect existed on delivery lasts twelve months under Article L. 217-7 of the French Consumer Code; the guarantee itself still lasts two years.
If the sale includes continuous supply of digital content or a digital service for more than two years, the statutory guarantee applies to that content or service throughout the agreed supply period. During that period, consumers need only establish the defect, not when it arose. Where applicable, the trader must provide updates necessary to keep the goods in conformity.
The guarantee entitles consumers to repair or replacement within thirty days of their request, free of charge and without significant inconvenience.
Repair under this guarantee extends the original guarantee by six months. If the consumer requests repair but the seller imposes replacement, the guarantee starts again for two years from delivery of the replacement.
Consumers may keep the goods and obtain a price reduction, or terminate the contract and return them for a full refund, if:
- The trader refuses repair or replacement;
- Repair or replacement takes more than thirty days;
- Repair or replacement causes significant inconvenience, including where the consumer permanently bears collection, removal or installation costs;
- The lack of conformity persists after an unsuccessful attempt by the seller to remedy it.
A sufficiently serious defect also permits an immediate price reduction or termination without first requesting repair or replacement. A minor defect does not entitle the consumer to terminate the sale.
Any period during which the goods are unavailable for repair or replacement suspends the remaining guarantee period until the repaired goods are delivered.
These rights arise under Articles L. 217-1 to L. 217-32 of the French Consumer Code. A seller who obstructs the guarantee in bad faith may incur a civil fine of up to €300,000, increased where applicable to 10% of average annual turnover (Article L. 241-5).
Consumers also benefit from the statutory guarantee against hidden defects under Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from discovery of the defect. This entitles them to a price reduction if they keep the goods, or a full refund upon returning them.
An item is not as described or has a defect
A defect or an item that does not match your order is covered by statutory guarantees, independently of the right of withdrawal. Contact us to describe the problem. You may attach photographs to help us understand it; providing photographs is not a condition of your statutory rights.
Statutory guarantee of conformity
The French statutory guarantee of conformity covers defects that existed at delivery and become apparent within two years. For second-hand goods, a defect appearing within the first 12 months is presumed to have existed at delivery, unless proved otherwise and subject to statutory exceptions. For new goods, that presumption lasts 24 months.
Goods must be brought into conformity without cost to you, by repair or replacement under the legal conditions, no later than 30 days after your request and without significant inconvenience. A price reduction or termination of the sale is available in the cases provided by law, including where bringing the goods into conformity is impossible or refused. The unique nature of an item does not remove these guarantees.
If the sale is terminated under this guarantee, we cover the cost of returning the goods. The refund legally due is made upon receipt of the goods or proof of their return, and no later than 14 days afterwards, using the same payment method unless you expressly agree to another method, without additional fees.
Statutory guarantee against hidden defects
You also benefit from the French statutory guarantee against hidden defects, under Articles 1641 onwards of the French Civil Code. Proceedings must be brought within two years of discovering the defect. Subject to the legal conditions, you may return the goods for a refund or keep them and obtain a price reduction.
These statutory guarantees are provided by Le Timbre et la Lettre — Carbonne Julien, who can be contacted using the details on this page. The withdrawal conditions do not restrict these rights.
Article 9 — Complaints and mediation
For a complaint about your order, email letimbreetlalettre@gmail.com or write to the seller's postal address. Include your order number, if known, to help us handle your request.
After making a prior written complaint to Le Timbre et la Lettre that has not led to a satisfactory resolution, consumers may refer the dispute free of charge to CM2C, subject to its admissibility conditions.
CM2C — Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice, 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France. Email: litiges@cm2c.net; telephone: +33 1 89 47 00 14. Submit a dispute: CM2C. This information concerns distance sales through the online shop.
Article 10 — Applicable law and personal data
These terms are governed by French law without depriving consumers of mandatory protections that may apply in their country of habitual residence. Jurisdiction is determined by the applicable legal rules; no exclusive court is imposed on consumers.
Information needed to process and follow up orders is handled as described in our privacy policy. The legal notice identifies the website publisher and host.
